- Stakz is the strategic tile-stacking game where players take turns stacking tiles by matching colors or symbols. The first to stack all of their tiles wins!
Set up
Place all the tiles face down on the table and mix them up. This is the draw pile. Each player draws ten tiles, two of each color/colour, and places the tiles on their edges in front of them, so that the other players cannot see the symbols. This is now their hand.
The oldest player chooses two different color/colour tiles from the remaining draw pile and places them face up in the middle of the table.
These two tiles are the bases of the first two stacks that players will start building on.
The youngest player starts and play continues in turns clockwise around the table.
Objective
The first player to get rid of all his/her tiles, by placing them on stacks, wins the round.
How to Play
On your turn, you can place any number of tiles from your hand on top of the stacks on the table, provided that each tileyouplacematcheseither the color/colour or the symbol of the tile on top of the stack it is being placed on.
NOTE that each stack can have a maximum of two tiles of the same color/colour tile in it, so if there are already two red tiles (in any order) in a particular stack, then you cannot place another red tile on top of that stack.
Making Stacks
If the tile you place on top of a stack is the fifth color/ colour in that stack (of the five different tiles: red, orange, green, blue and purple) then you split that stack to make two new stacks. This is how the starting two stacks miltiply into many.
SPLITTING A STACK
When splitting a stack, divide it evenly to make two new stacks of an equal number of tiles. However, if a stack cannot be evenly split, then leave the extra tile on the top of the original stack. For example, splitting a stack of seven tiles will make two new stacks of three and four tiles, with the top three tiles making the new stack.
Once you split a stack, you can immediately place two more tiles from your hand on top of the two new stacks (you just made), giving you additionalmovesandhelping you get rid of the tiles in your hand faster.
You can make as many new stacks on your turn as possible.
Ending Your Turn
When you have finished placing tiles from your hand, or if you are unable to place any tiles from your hand during your turn, then you end your turn by drawing one new tile of any color/colour from the draw pile — until there are no more tiles left in the draw pile.
Scoring, Winning and Losing
The round ends as soon as a player has no more tiles in their hand, winning the round!
The other players then score one point per tile still in their hand.
Keep playing rounds until one player has a total of 12 points, ending the game.
The player with the lowest total point score is the winner!
